By making seven lifestyle changes, researchers at the Boston University School of Medicine say the risk of heart failure can be reduced by as much as 60 percent.
The lifestyle changes include stopping smoking, regular exercise, a healthy diet, a healthy body mass index (BMI), lower cholesterol, keeping blood pressure in check and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.
The changes published in the journal Circulation: Heart Failure are not new, but researchers found that each point improvement in each area resulted in a 23 per cent drop in the risk of heart failure. (ABC)
