The viola organista was on Leonardo Da Vinci’s bucket list but he never got around to it. He did manage to draw up plans for the unique musical instrument and nearly 500 years later Polish concert pianist Slavomir Zubrzycki built one from scratch.
The viola organista shares characteristics with three modern day instruments, the harpsichord, the organ, and the viola da gamba and it sounds like all three played together.
