A child poverty report card says an increasing number of children live in poverty in Canada – but no where is the problem more desperate than in Manitoba.
The report says, across Canada almost one in five children lives in poverty.
But in Manitoba.. it’s almost one in three.
Co-author Sid Frankel says parents in that province tend to have low-paying jobs – and don’t get enough tax breaks.
The report is calling on governments to establish specific child poverty targets – and boost the minimum wage to 15-dollars an hour.
