PARIS ATTACKS AFFECTING TOURISM TO THE CITY OF LIGHT

Though Parisians are putting on a brave face since the terrorist attacks ten days ago, the deadly incidents have kept tourists away.

Those that do come notice a difference.
One tourist saying ”you can really feel how nervous and scared people are.”
The Louvre and Musee d’Orsay, two of the most popular attractions, have both recorded a 30% drop in visitors.
The Pompidou museum has seen ticket sales fall 50%.
There are none of the usual lines waiting to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

The tourism sector’s crucial for central Paris as it employs nearly 200,000 out of a population of just over 2,000,000.
Prime Minister Manuel Valls met Monday with representatives from tour operators, travel agencies, hotels and restaurants to find a short-term solution to boost business.
Economists say attacks of this kind tend to have a short-term impact on tourims.
