The pick-and-pay rules for Canadian cable and satellite TV promised earlier this year are to take effect next year.
The country’s broadcast regulator, the CRTC, says you will have access to either pick-and-pay or small TV packages as of March 1st, 2016 and access to both by December 1st, 2016.
The basic packages, which came out of hearings last year, must include local channels in each service area, as well as channels currently on the CRTC’s mandatory distribution list.
You’ll then be able to supplement this with either individual channels or small bundled packages.
The changes also include a $25 cap on the most basic service.
