Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders will be back before the Police Services Board today. Saunders looking for 1 billion for the 2016 budget to operate the service.
The board asked him last month to reduce his request, saying it is 40 million higher than the city is hoping to pay.
Saunders is looking for 27 million dollars more than last years 979 million dollar budget.
Saunders says hes looking to change the current form of policing but is not willing to compromise on safety.
Next month, the police services board plans to release a KPMG report on ways to reduce costs dramatically.

That report includes closing all 17 police division buildings and replacing them with storefront operations.

The board is also recommending decreasing platoon sizes and shifting some jobs done currently by police officers to civilian positions.
