At least 42 people, most of them seniors, are dead after a fiery crash between a bus and tractor trailer near the city of Bordeaux.

Seven people survived the crash, but their conditions are unknown.

French President Francois Hollande is in Athens visiting with the Greek Prime Minister. Hollande says the French government is fully mobilized on this terrible tragedy.

“We’re waiting to hear more information. The French government is focused on this tragedy, and I ask that we understand how much,” Hollande said speaking through a translator.

President Hollande is promising an investigation into what happened. He also expressed “the solidarity of the whole nation” with loved ones of the victims.
