Fans hoping to see Placido Domingo conducting “Tosca” at the Met – will have to wait a bit longer.

Domingo is in hospital with gallbladder inflammation and will undergo surgery next week.

The world-renowned opera star and maestro will miss the first four shows – but the Metropolitain Opera says he’s expected to make a full recovery in time to conduct the performance of Tosca on November 2nd – as well as performances for which he was originally scheduled in early and mid-November.

Marco Armiliato will lead Friday evening’s opening performance – and Paolo Carignani will conduct the performances on October 21st, 24th and 29th.
