Canadian folk legend Buffy Sainte-Marie has won this year’s Polaris Music prize for her album Power in the Blood”
The annual award honours the best album from Canada as selected by a jury of music journalists, bloggers and broadcasters.
The 74 year old Canadian singer-songwriter has an extensive discography that focuses on issues largely pertaining to indigenous peoples.
The Polaris comes with a $50,000 cash prize.
