Toronto Parking Authority President Lorne Persiko says the TPA board voted in favour of the hikes at a meeting July 30th.

As examples, he says prices at the Toronto City Hall garage are going from $2.50 to $2.75 a half hour and from $270 to $280 for monthly passes.  He also says the agency will be talking to councillors this fall about recommended increases in some metered on-street spots.

The parking lot hikes will start coming into effect September 8th and will generate between $2 million and $2.5 million a year for the parking authority.

Last year, the TPA earned gross revenues of $129 million, $44,345,000 of which went ot the city treasury.
