Americans Anne Tyler and Marilynne Robinson are among 13 novelists in the running – for the $78,000 Booker Prize for fiction.
The long list ran to 156 entries – and the short-list also includes “A Brief History of Seven Killings” by Marlon James, the first Jamaican born Booker contender.
Also selected are Ireland’s Anne Enright for “The Green Road” and British writer Andrew o’Hagan for “The Illuminations.”
The very-short list of six finalists will be announced September 15th – with the winner revealed on October 13th.
