Mayor John Tory and TTC Chair Josh Colle have announced major transit improvements – to take effect in September and October.
They say service will be improved on a total of 33 bus and streetcar routes – during off peak periods.
That means that during those times, buses should be less crowded and more frequent.
Tory says the improvements are important because “an efficient transit system connects people to opportunity and is absolutely essential to our way of life – connecting people to work and family and other things they want to do in the city.”
The improved TTC service levels will cost about $10 million dollars a year, but a lot of that will be recovered at the fare box.
It’s estimated that about 2 million people each year – will benefit from the service improvements.
