The man who secretly recorded the infamous Rob Ford crack video on his phone has pleaded guilty to trafficking guns and cocaine.
According to the agreed statement of facts filed with the court, 29 year old Mohamed Siad was caught on wiretaps discussing the sale of guns and drugs in Windsor and Toronto.
Siad has been in custody since he was arrested in the Project Traveller raids in June of 2013, just over a month after he showed two Toronto Star reporters the smartphone video of Toronto’s then mayor smoking crack cocaine.
The contents of the video were reported by both the Star and Gawker, and led to Toronto police starting an investigation of Rob Ford under the name Project Brazen 2. Now a Toronto city councillor, Ford has never been charged.
Ford denied drug use and the existence of the video for six months, but eventually admitted to having smoked crack cocaine.
Mohamed Siad is scheduled to be sentenced this afternoon. The Crown is seeking a sentence of 10 years, the defence is seeking seven years.
