It’s an invitation to share your ideas on what experience, skills and personality traits you’d like to see – in Ontario’s first patient ombudsman.

Until the end of August, Ontarians can go online to help recruit the ombudsman – by identifying the qualities they think are most important for the person to have.

The new role is being created after recommendations last December from the Quality of Care Information Protection Act review committee – that called on Ontario to create an agency to investigate critical health care incidents.

The province will use the information to guide its selection of the patient ombudsman – who will assist patients and their caregivers who haven’t had their concerns resolved through existing processes at hospitals, long-term care homes or community care access centres.
