For all of those Zoomers who ride their bikes for getting around to appointments or visits with friends, the province says it will spend nearly $5 million to expand a bike-sharing network in Toronto.

The expansion will see more bikes available near transit stations.

Metrolinx, the province’s regional transportation agency Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas, is collaborating with the city-owned Toronto Parking Authority, to expand the Bike Share Toronto network.

The plan will more than double the size of the current network and will see Metrolinx buy bikes and docking stations that will be operated by the TPA.

The new bikes and docking stations will be in place by December 2016.  They will be close to transit stations and highly populated areas to help users connect to transit.
