WEEKEND EVENTS AND TRAFFIC ADVISORY

It will be a busy weekend in Toronto with several festivals and special events taking place, but that will result in some road closures and traffic disruptions.

Those who need to drive in the general vicinity of special events should allow extra time to get to and from their destination.

Bloor Street from Parliament to Broadview will be closed from 8 this evening until 5 a.m. Sunday, for the Pan Am Games Torch Relay and the lighting of the Luminous Veil, consisting of 35 thousand LED lights. In addition, access to Castle Frank Road from the Don Valley Parkway and the Bayview extension ramps in both directions will not be available from 4 p.m. on Saturday, to 5 a.m. on Sunday.

St. Clair Avenue from Winona Drive to Christie Street will be closed in both directions from Saturday, at 8 a.m. to Sunday, at 11 p.m. for Salsa on St. Clair.

Yonge Street from Dundas Street to Queen Street will be closed on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the Youth Day event.

Lawrence Avenue from Warden Avenue to Birchmount Road will be closed on Friday, July 3 at 10 a.m. to Monday, July 6 at 2 a.m. for the Taste of Lawrence.

There are also some scheduled service changes to the subway system this weekend.  Line 2, the Bloor-Danforth line, there will be no subway service between St George and Pape stations until 12:00 noon on Sunday.

Line 3, the Scarborough line, between Kennedy and McCowan no service Saturday or Sunday.
