Rob Ford is said to be recovering very well from surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his abdomen.

The Toronto city councillor and former mayor returned to Mount Sinai Hospital yesterday for a further follow up on his post surgery recovery.

According to an email statement from Ford’s chief of staff, his doctors say they are extremely pleased with his progress and are surprised at how far he has come in the recovery process in such a short period of time.

The statement also says his wound has healed very well, but he will continue to wear an abdominal binder for some time.

Councillor Ford has been cleared to be at work 1 to 2 days a week, and to gradually increase his workload back to a full time level.

The 46 year old politician underwent months of chemotherapy and radiation prior to his 10 hour operation on May 11th.  Ford found out he had cancer prior to the Toronto’s election last fall which forced him to forgo his bid for re-election as the city’s mayor. Ford is notorious for his admitted use of crack cocaine while he was mayor.
