The hybrid option wins.
Toronto city council voted late this afternoon 24-to-21 in favour of maintaining a link on the Gardiner expressway east of Jarvis – to connect to the Don Valley Parkway.
That was the option favoured by Mayor John Tory – who said the vote was close – “but that’s how democracy works.”
Tory says he’ll sit down with those who have a different point of view than his own – and then the majority of council – to work with them to produce the best possible results.
The Gardiner tear-down option lost by a vote of 26-to-19.
And the option to maintain the expressway lost 44-to-1 – with the single vote coming from councillor Rob Ford.
