The estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has filed a law suit against the producers of Ian McKellen’s upcoming film called “Mr. Holmes”.  The suit alleges the producers adapted the movie from the book “A Slight Trick of the Mind” in breach of copyright.  Doyle’s heirs own the rights to Sherlock Holmes’ days in retirement and believe both the novel and the movie have used protected material.  The heirs want to block the movie’s release, a recognition of the novel and the movie’s source material and a share of the profits from both.
