An important British book prize – worth approximately $75,000 cdn is looking for a new backer, after the current supporter – The Folio Society – announced it wouldn’t be renewing its title sponsorship beyond two years.
The award – previously known as The Literature Prize – was created to honour fiction written in English – from anywhere in the world.
The Folio Prize was first announced in 2011 after a dispute with that year’s Man Booker judges demanding that the focus be increased on “readability.”
The Folio Society was founded in 1947 – with the aim of celebrating the physical beauty of books.
The Society publishes illustrated editions of the world’s greatest books that are “meant to last for generations.”
