The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is promising to clarify by Friday what form Monday’s job action will take. The elementary teachers will be in a strike position as of next Monday and if they do strike, they’ll join their public high school counterparts who are on strike in Durham, Peel and the Sudbury area. A confidential bulletin was sent to members of the ETFO in Toronto yesterday. It suggests phase one of strike action could begin as of this Monday with the withdrawal of administrative services. The Peel District School Board says it’s been told the job action could include a strike. Education Minister Liz Sandals says growing job action by teachers seems to be coming from a general desire to have a strike, but, ETFO President Sam Hammond his membership would have preferred a negotiated settlement.
