It’s good news for people living with cancer. They are living longer.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says two out of every three Americans diagnosed with invasive cancer between 2003 and 2010 survived for five years or longer.
The researchers speculate that it may be due to improved treatments and early detection.
Their investigation looked at various invasive cancers — including lung, breast and prostate cancer — and how they relate to gender, age and race.
The data could be powerful in assisting researchers in creating new therapies and physicians in screening particular populations.
