The GTA is under a special weather statement from Environment Canada warning of a mix of wintery weather that is taking aim at much of Southern Ontario. A low pressure system, tracking towards Southern Ontario today, is bringing a mix of snow, ice pellets and the chance of freezing rain. A severe weather specialist with Environment Canada says the worst is expected to hit, just in time for the afternoon rush hour. A freezing rain warning is in effect for Southwestern Ontario through to Hamilton and the Niagara Peninsula which may impact Burlington and Oakville. The GTA is expected to get mostly snow; however, some ice pellets and localized freezing rain is also likely late this afternoon into early this evening.
