A year ago, the GTA was being buried in ice by a storm that left more than a million people in the dark for days. This year we’re being warned of winds gusting up to 90 kilometers an hour Christmas Eve into Christmas Day and rain, possibly accompanied by a thunderstorm or two. Environment Canada Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips says a mild, green Christmas in the Toronto area is not all that unusual, but this one could be memorable if record warm temperatures are achieved. Phillips says where it will really be unusual is on the east coast. He says Halifax, N.S. may see 14C/57F Christmas Day which he says is more like Vancouver weather than winter in the Maritimes.
