A frustrated Premier Kathleen Wynne’s been trying to sit down and talk with the prime minister.
She met recently with Quebec’s Philippe Couillard and Alberta’s Jim Prentice but doesn’t know why it’s so hard to do likewise with Stephen Harper.
During a stop in nearby Markham today, Harper said the Ontario government should concentrate on its economic challenges and less on ”confrontation.”
Asked why it’s been so long since he met face-to-face with Ontario’s leader, Harper said he meets ”regularly” with premiers.
However, the prime minister says the government at Queen’s Park should focus on getting its own house in order.
Harper says Ottawa is balancing its budget, cutting taxes and providing more services and believes Ontario should be going in the same direction.
