Toronto’s mayor-elect meets with members of his transitional team today.  John Tory plans to discuss ways to move forward quickly on his SmartTrack transit plan.

“I think everybody wants to move forward,” Tory explained last night, ” I think a lot of people recognize from every corner of the city, we’ve postponed things, we’ve found reasons not to do things.  And we’ve got to get on with something as major and bold as SmartTrack, and I think they all want to work as hard as they can to make sure so we can try to make this a go.  And of course, city council, when it convenes will try and do the same thing.”

Tory had some laughs last night with Martin Short as “Jimmy Glick”, at a fundraiser for the Jewish National Fund at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.  John Tory will be sworn in as Toronto’s mayor on Tuesday December 2nd.
