Ontario isn’t going to participate any more with the Canada Border Services Agency – in road safety blitzes.
Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca’s decision comes after the Harper government used one safety operation in August- to arrest undocumented workers.
That led to a number of protests.
Del Duca says partnering with the agency does not line-up with the Ministry’s mandate – to make roads as safe as possible.
His letter to Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney says the Ministry will only partner with groups that have a shared objective to make roads safer – and ensure that commercial vehicles comply with all safety regulations.
