The tap is on again – as Ontario pumps $74 million more into the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.
Organizers say the money will be offset by savings in other areas, so the overall increase is expected to come in at $29 million.
The organizing committee says less money from sponsorships will be coming in than previously forecast.
It also needs money for things like expanding the torch relay to more communities.
Michael Coteau, the government minister responsible for the Games, says he’s confident it will be the last time organizers will have to come to the province for cash.
The Games are expected to cost $2.57 billion dollars – with Ontario contributing about $1.6 billion.
The Pan Am Games will run from July 7th to 26th at venues across southern Ontario… with the Parapan Am Games running from August 7th to 15th.
