The shortlist has been announced for the “Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize” for Nonfiction.
Social activist Naomi Klein and novelist Kathleen Winter are two of the authors nominated for the $60,000 prize.
Klein has received international acclaim for her books “No Logo” and “The Shock Doctrine.” The Montreal native is a finalist for “This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate.” (Knopf Canada).
Winter was raised in Newfoundland. She’s nominated for “Boundless: Tracing Land and Dream in a New Northwest Passage” (House of Anansi Press).
Other finalists include broadcast journalist Paula Todd for “Extreme Mean: Trolls, Bullies, and Predators Online.” (Signal).
And Charles Montgomery is shortlisted for “Happy City: Transforming Our Lives Through Urban Design” (Doubleday Canada.)
Journalist Susan Delacourt joins the list for “Shopping for Votes: How Politicians Choose Us and We Choose Them” (Douglas & McIntyre).
The winner will be announced October 14th.
