The world’s oldest film festival is underway. And Canada is represented by just one film this year.
Ron Mann’s documentary on legendary film director Robert Altman is screening out of competition at the Venice Film Festival.
Altman created classics such as M*A*S*H, The Player, and Gosford Park. But, in the film, he reflects on often being at odds with what Hollywood was churning out.
Altman died in 2006. His widow, Kathryn, co-produced the tribute.
Ron Mann says Venice will be the first screening for his film. And he feels it’s the perfect place for it.
Altman will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Monday.
