Some very welcome news for the Minnesota Orchestra.
As it emerges from a financial crisis and lengthy labour lockout – there’s news of $13.2 million – from four separate anonymous donations.
The money includes a single $10 million “leadership gift,” while three other donors contributed the additional funding of $3.2 million.
The bulk of the $10 million will go to the Minnesota Orchestra’s “building for the future” endowment – which was started three years ago to bolster the general endowment.
The surprise donations will become part of the orchestra’s continuing recovery from hefty annual deficits and a bitter lockout of musicians.
The orchestra’s fiscal year ends on Sunday.
