As the premiers meet in Charlottetown, CARP – A New Vision of Aging – in concert with the Canadian Medical Association – is co-hosting a roundtable designed to put a national seniors’ care strategy at the top of the agenda in Canada.
Both organizations are demanding comprehensive national standards – for items like home care, dementia care, and end of life care.
Susan Eng is the vice-president of advocacy for Carp. She says the plan is to make the creation of a seniors care strategy a political issue – at all levels of government – both federal and provincial.
We’ll keep you posted on both the results of the roundtable discussions – and the meeting of the premiers and territorial leaders.
