Torontonians are living in one of the world’s best cities and Canada is home to three of the top five on the planet.
According to an annual report by The Economist, Toronto is ranked as the fourth best city in which to live, just below Vancouver and just above Calgary. Melbourne, Australia topped the list of 140 cities for the fourth year in a row with Vienna, Austria coming in second. Cities are ranked on 30 factors across various categories, including stability, healthcare, culture, environment, education and infrastructure. The report’s authors note the world’s most livable cities are often mid-sized in wealthier countries with low population density. They say this can foster a range of recreational activities without leading to high crime levels or overburdened infrastructure.
