If you’re one of the more than 100-thousand who go through Union station daily then you know it’s long been in need of improvements.

Tomorrow morning, the second platform will finally be in operation.

It’s for those heading north on the Yonge line.

Those taking the University side of the subway loop will keep using the existing platform to board.

Extra TTC saff will be at Union station for a few weeks to help direct commuters to the proper platform.

Meanwhile, a $69-million service expansion proposal goes to the TTC Board meeting Tuesday.

It includes nine recommendations to immediately improve bus and streetcar service, including changing the transfer policy from one-way-trip-per-fare to a two-hour-privilege-per-fare, and all-door boarding, which could be implemented as early as January.

Other longer term recommendations include 10-minute-or-better bus and streetcar service, expanding the Express Route Network with new and improved routes, running all 150 bus routes all day – every day and expanding overnight services.

All that could take up to four years.
