A second 72-hour ceasefire is holding in Gaza.
The latest lull began at 5:00 EDT yesterday afternoon. Hamas continued shelling Israel up until the deadline, but then the rockets fell silent. The two sides are now back at the negotiating table in Cairo, where negotiators hope to find a lasting truce.
A ceasefire last week ended after 72 hours when Hamas began shelling Southern Israel again. Israeli negotiators left Cairo soon after, saying they will not negotiate while under attack.
Egypt and Israel have opened the border crossings into the territory during the ceasefire to allow the Palestinians to replenish supplies.
