A ceasefire that began in the early hours of the morning in the Middle East is holding.
Israel and Hamas agreed to a 72-hour truce in order to pursue indirect talks in Cairo aimed at bringing an end to a month-long war.
Israel pulled it troops out of Gaza to begin the ceasefire at 1:00 AM Eastern time.
Hamas fired a final salvo of rockets just before the ceasefire was scheduled to begin. One rocket reached Jerusalem before being intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. The other struck a house near Bethlehem in the West Bank. But no one was injured.
