A 25-year old man has been arrested after a Sunwing flight heading for Panama was forced to turn around because of a threat.

Sunwing Flight 772 departed Pearson International shortly after 7 a.m.

But the plane, with 189 on board, turned back less an hour later after a passenger threatened the plane.

It was escorted back by two U.S. military fighter jets.

When it landed, armed tactical officers stormed the plane, ordering everyone to put their hands up and heads down.

Facing four charges, including uttering a threat and endangering the safety of an aircraft is Ali Shahi.

He’s to appear in Brampton court tomorrow for a bail hearing.

The passengers were given complimentary meals and left this afternoon for Panama – again.
