Ontario is planning to make changes to its cancer drug system after more than 12-hundred cancer patients in Ontario and New Brunswick received diluted chemotherapy drugs. The government is bringing back legislation that it says will provide more oversight of hospital pharmacies. Bags containing cancer drugs that were mixed by an Ontario company had extra saline in them, effectively watering down the drug concentrations by up to 10 per cent. Ontario Health Minister Dr. Eric Hoskins says the measures will help prevent similar mistakes.
