It seems there’s a connection between adult dyslexia and physical abuse.  A joint study from the University of Toronto and the University of North Carolina finds more than a third of dyslexic adults were physically abused as children.  Researchers say 35 percent of adults with the learning disability said they were physically abused by someone close to them by the age of 18.  By contrast, 7 percent of those without dyslexia reported similar abuse.  The findings raise dramatic questions about the link between brain changes long associated with childhood abuse and learning disabilities such as dyslexia.
