Five countries are being added to Canada’s foreign aid priority list.

That returns the pool of potential recipients to the same level set by the former Liberal government.

But there will be no more money as the list expands from 20 to 25 countries.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called on Canada to boost overall foreign aid spending to 0.7 % of gross domestic product from its current level of  less than 0.3 %.

Ottawa says it’ll shuffle existing funds to cover priorities while putting in place new accountability measures to ensure the money is well spent.
