A veteran provincial police motorcycle officer is in Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre following a training exercise collision – with a Canada goose.

It happened north of Barrie this morning where Highways 400 and 11 meet.

OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes says the officer, Constable Peter Tucker, suffered ”life-altering” injuries and that his recovery will be long.

Just so happens he talked about the dangers on our highways during an interview two years ago.

”My biggest fear is vehicle collisions.  That’s the most realistic danger that I face every day”.

Const. Tucker is trained in VIP escorts and a member of the OPP Golden Helmets Motorcycle Precision Team.
