In Turkey, officials say 232 people are confirmed dead so far in an explosion and fire at a coal mine.
Nearly 800 people were in the mine at the time of the explosion. The number is higher than it might have been because the disaster happened during a shift change.
Some 200 miners are still missing in what has become Turkey’s worst mining disaster in more than two decades.
The mine is located about 250 kilometres south of Istanbul.
Turkey’s president has declared three days of national mourning.
