A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder continues to be the show to beat in New York’s award season.

The zany musical took four awards at the Outer Critics Circle Awards that honour both on-and-off Broadway. A Gentleman’s Guide won best new musical, best direction, best book, and best actor for Jefferson Mays.

It also leads the nominations for the Tony Awards.

Woody Allen’s new musical, Bullets Over Broadway, and a revival of Tennessee Williams’ A Glass Menagerie took three awards each.

Jason Robert Brown was awarded best score for his Bridges of Madison County.

Andrea Martin won best featured actress in a play for Act One.

And a special award was given to Bill Berloni, who has trained some 300 dogs over his career for Annie and other productions. Each canine star was rescued from an animal shelter.
