Toronto MP, alderman and activist Dan Heap has died.
He was 88.
Heap, who’d suffered from Alzheimer’s, died at a city nursing home.
He represented the federal Toronto riding of Spadina for more than a decade after winning a byelection in 1981.
Before that, Heap was a city alderman for nine years.
Heap was well-known for his views against war and crusades against poverty and homelessness.
Former NDP MP Olivia Chow, who once worked for him, says Heap was ”never a person about himself.”
