Canada will be sending up to 500 people to Ukraine on an election observation mission.

The election May 25th comes amid concerns about separatist tensions in the eastern part of Ukraine.

Foreign Affairs Minister is touring several eastern European countries to express Canadian solidarity in the face of Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

During a stop in Slovakia, John Baird repeated Russia will face more isolation unless it backs down.

Meanwhile, back in Ottawa, the  opposition parities are demanding to know where our CF-18s are headed and what they’ll be doing there.

Last week, the Prime Minister announced Canada would contribute six jet fighters to a NATO plan to reassure allies in Poland and the Baltic states.

But there’s been no word when they’d be going, where they’ll be based nor what the mission will involve.
