Nobel prize winning novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez left behind an unpublished manuscript that he chose not to release while he was alive.

Penguin Random House Mexico says Garcia Marquez’s family hasn’t yet decided whether to allow the book to come out posthumously.

The manuscript has a working title of “We’ll See Each Other in August.”

The author died at his Mexico City home on April 17.

Meanwhile – Colombia’s Culture Ministry says it is creating a $100,000 annual literary prize in honour of Garcia Marquez – for the best short story in Spanish.

There have been a number of celebrations of the author’s life all over Columbia.

In Bogota, President Juan Manuel Santos presided over a Mass in Garcia Marquez’s honour.

And The Bogota Symphony Orchestra performed Mozart’s “Requiem” in the capital’s colonial-era cathedral which was festooned with thousands of yellow roses – the author’s favourite colour.

And in Cuba, the state news agency says this year’s Havana Film Festival will be dedicated to Garcia Marquez – who was a longtime friend of former leader Fidel Castro.
