"JOB-HOPPING" IS BECOMING THE NORM: SURVEY

There’s more proof that the days when spent your entire career at one company are disappearing.

An online survey from job-hunting website Workopolis found that 51% of those polled say they had been in the same job for less than two years. Only 30% say they had held one job for more than four years.

A similar survey taken in the Nineties showed only 16% reported being in the same job for less than two years. But a majority — 60% — said they had been with the same company for four years or more.

Workopolis says the poll shows more employees are “job hopping” until they find the right position in the right company. It’s becoming much more of a challenge for employers to retain workers in whom they may have invested time and money training.
