The Wynne Liberals are promising to spend 29 billion dollars over the next ten years for transit and infrastructure in Ontario. Premiere Wynne made another funding announcement this afternoon, saying 15 billion of the money will be available for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area. The balance will be available for the the rest of the province. Wynne says yes, the government is going to spend a lot of money, but you’ll have to wait for the provincial budget for the details. Wynne does says they’ll raise new money, use green bonds to finance debt and will re-direct the existing 130-million dollars in HST, collected on gasoline, to the project.
