There are encouraging results from early clinical trials of an experimental drug being used to treat advanced breast cancer. After a trial involving some 160 patients, Pfizer says the drug, Palbociclib, prevented breast cancer from worsening for about twenty months. Current medications do so for about ten months. The drug is among a new class of cancer drugs that target specific proteins to block tumours. Breast cancer is the common form of the disease to strike women.
