The huge Chapters Bookstore at John and Richmond Street West in Toronto is scheduled to close May 30th.

Janet Eger is vice president of public affairs for Indigo Books & Music.

Eger says the decision was reached after lengthy negotiations about renewing the store’s lease – at the location beneath the Scotiabank Theatre.

She says Chapters is looking at potential new locations in downtown Toronto, Bloor West Village and Oakville.

The Chapters announcement comes less than two months after the Runnymede Chapters Indigo bookstore closed.

Another popular Chapters location, The World’s Biggest Bookstore on Edward street in downtown Toronto closed its doors March 30th.

The location will soon become a row of restaurants.
